Hidden Treasure productions Blog # 4 By Beverly Dennison
“The way we got
our name and Logo”
When our Board of Directors was formed, we needed to
decide on the name for our new organization. Every member began to think about what
the best name would be for what we wanted to accomplish. Some of the names
suggested were:
Into the World Productions True Theatre
Foolish Things Productions Expose Theatre
Open Field Productions Proverbs Productions
Shine Your Light Productions Whole Earth Productions
Jest Drama Productions Urgency Theatre
Company
Darkness and Light Theatre Company Sower Productions
Hidden Treasure Productions New Light Productions
Fertile Soil Productions Fertile Ground
Productions
All of the above suggested names were placed in an online
site where we could all vote anonymously, called strawpoll.me
Six more suggestions were sent in by Chris Inouye, but
they were too late to be added to the online poll.
We were all allowed to vote up to 10 times each until the
deadline date, set by Don Dennison. The winner with 44% of the votes was Hidden
Treasure Productions, submitted by Beverly Dennison. The 2nd
highest number of votes was for “Into the World Productions”, and the 3rd
place was for “Open Field Productions”. The name was most likely chosen because
of the ideas, content and purposes that we want our plays to convey to our
audiences—a message of hope and promise, only found in God.
Now that we had our name, we set about the task of
developing our Logo. Some of the suggestions were:
A globe
A circle with half white and half black
A Jester Clown
Comedy/Tragedy Masks
A Treasure Chest, half-buried in sand
A shell with pearls
Finally, after much discussion at a Board meeting, we voted
and decided on the seashell with three pearls, submitted by Kitty Inouye.
However, there was some discussion about whether it should be one or three
pearls. The three pearls idea was agreed upon, which signifies the Hidden
Treasure found in God.
The colors of turquoise and aqua were determined for the
seashell, because of the colors of the sea. And those colors look nice,
contrasted with the three pearls inside!
Around the same time we determined our name and Logo, we
also decided on our Mission Statement, which was submitted by Don Dennison. It
is:
“Our mission is to create quality, professional plays, to
take into the whole world.”
