Blog # 3 The Board of Directors By Don Dennison

This is the third blog in a series about the creation of Hidden Treasure Productions (HTP).  This blog will be covering the people who became the Board of Directors (BOD).

This process started with John and Valerie Herrera, who were the first to meet with us. They became the first two on the BOD. Valerie is now the Director of Productions of HTP. She proved herself in Ukraine, as the Stage Manager, that she has the skills to be the leader in all HTP productions.

John is now the Artistic Director for our company. He has an eye for how things look on stage, aesthetically. He is also the company Photographer. He demonstrated his skills in Ukraine, as he transformed the stage with the best sets and lighting available. This was not easy to do, as we had limited and ever-changing venues and sets!

Next on the Board of Directors, Chris and Kitty Inouye joined up. Chris is the Director of Technology. That is a big job, as he must handle aspects of the play which include sound, mics, and making slides to convert English into other languages! He is dedicated to HTP. Let me use one example: When we were in Uzhgorod, Ukraine, he stayed up many nights until 2:00 or 3:00 am, converting English to Ukrainian. Because of him, the people who did not understand spoken English, could follow the play, by reading the slides in Ukrainian that Chris prepared and displayed. His technical abilities are immeasurable.

Kitty Inouye is Chris’s wife. She is the Director of Counseling Services for HTP. She is also our Exit Manager, for when someone does not fit into our organization. Kitty has also proven her skills, through her astute awareness and intuitive nature. She continues to give insights and ideas for every situation that may arise, and she is supportive of every person involved within our organization. She is a wealth of information, and such a vital part of HTP! As a side note, Kitty is one of our very experienced actors!

We cannot have a play without a Playwright! Kanaan Hesseling is our Director of Drama Development and Playwright. He is a talented writer, and he has a way of being able to visualize what it will look like when we perform it on stage. He has been writing for a long time, and his plays are about today’s real-life issues. He has also done some film work and videos in the past. He is preparing for the future, as HTP would like to produce films! You will be hearing much more from him in the years to come, because he is a talented young man, who has not quite been discovered by the outside world. But we got him first!

Ron Pasowicz is our Director of Sales and Marketing. Ron has the “Gift of Gab” and the ability to make friends with anyone by just meeting them! He knows how to build new relationships. His job is to seek out and make contacts for new venues, as well as performance and rehearsal spaces, as we go forward. Ron also made his debut as an actor in Ukraine, in the play PRODIGAL. He loved every minute of it, so acting may be on the horizon for him!  His greatest gifts are serving and giving of himself.

Teresa Thomas is our Director of Outreach. Just as her title implies, she is gifted  in reaching out to others. She is another “People Person!” Her main responsibility is to help the Director of Production, Valerie Herrera with the Understudies, whether we are performing in a foreign land or domestically. The Understudies are actors who are ready to take over a role, should a main actor be incapacitated in some way. She will take the Understudies out to meet and greet people on the streets, to tell them about our show and invite them. Also, she will have the ability to give away free tickets to the show. Basically, she is our main Publicist.

Beverly Dennison is the Director of Communication for HTP. Her responsibilities are varied. Mainly, she makes sure that all communication that leaves HTP is prompt and of quality. She is good at spelling and punctuation, which is important in today’s world. We have a commitment to excellence in everything we do, including communications. She has skills in creative writing, and she really enjoys acting, too. Beverly has been married to Don for many years, and she loves the notion of forming this new venture of Hidden Treasure Productions together!

Now, it’s Don’s turn! He is the President/CEO of Hidden Treasure Productions. Don spent 32 years in the business world. His last position was General Manager and CEO at Daiohs/ First Choice Services of Northern California. When he retired, he didn’t really retire, but he “re-fired” his life, to get involved in other projects and travel. Because of our dramatic performance of PRODIGAL in Ukraine and seeing the impact it had, he has felt led to pursue this venture of Hidden Treasure Productions. He is excited and driven to see its success!

The next Blog will be written by Beverly Dennison, about how we got our name and Logo.
